A materialidade da escola mineira no século XIX (1825-1850)

Esse artigo analisa o processo de configuração da instrução pública em Minas Gerais entre 1825 e 1852 focalizando o arranjo material da escola como estratégia de organização do ensino elementar. O objetivo é mostrar, como a partir das experiências com o método de ensino mútuo produziu-se uma materialidade para a escola elementar. Para isso identificamos e caracterizamos os utensílios e o mobiliário escolar, buscando demonstrar como a introdução de uma série de novidades materiais modificou o ensino. Para o período estudado recorremos aos relatórios dos presidentes da província mineira, a um conjunto de correspondências enviadas a eles por professores e delegados de círculos literários, à matéria Educação Elementar do jornal O Universal, a um compêndio e a uma lista de castigos do ensino mútuo.

Abstract
This article aims at analyzing the formation of public teaching in Minas Gerais from 1825 to
1855 focussing at the school material as organizational strategy for elementary education. Our goal is to show how from the experiences involving the mutual teaching method materials for the elementary school we created. We, therefore, employed identified and characterized the both the furniture and school utensils trying to show how the introduction of such tools changed teaching. We employed records used by the province presidents, letters sent to them both by teachers and deputies of literary circles, news from O universo (newspaper), a manual and a list of punishments of mutual teaching.
