O objetivo deste artigo é reconstruir brevemente a história das escolas étnicas da chamada Região Colonial Italiana no Rio Grande do Sul, a partir dos olhares registrados por cônsules e agentes consulares. Considerando os contextos culturais, sociais, políticos e econômicos que permeiam a trama histórica dos processos de imigração, em especial de italianos para o Rio Grande do Sul a partir de 1875, a análise abrange o final do século XIX e início do século XX, momento em que houve maior participação e importância desta forma de escolarização. Utilizando fontes Historiográficas diversificadas, mas privilegiando os relatórios consulares, o artigo analisa esta iniciativa ímpar de organização escolar, procurando contribuir para o conhecimento da história da educação brasileira.

EDUCATION AND ETHNICITY: THE EPHEMERAL ITALIAN ETHNIC-COMMUNAL SCHOOLS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF CONSULS AND CONSULAR AGENTS
Abstract
The article briefly traces the history of the ethnic schools in the area of Italian colonization in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil on the basis of the views recorded by consuls and consular agents. Taking into account the cultural, social, political and economic contexts that pervade the history of the immigration processes, particularly of Italian immigrants to Rio Grande do Sul from 1875 onwards, the analysis covers the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, as in this period this form of school education had its largest share and biggest importance. By using diverse historical sources, but focusing on consular reports, it analyzes this unique initiative of school organization, trying to contribute to a better knowledge of the history of Brazilian education.

El objetivo de este artículo es reconstruir brevemente la historia de las escuelas étnicas de la llamada Región Colonial Italiana en Rio Grande do Sul, a partir de las miradas registradas por cónsules y agentes consulares. Considerando los contextos culturales, sociales, políticos y económicos que traspasan la trama histórica de los procesos de inmigración, en especial de italianos hacia Rio Grande do Sul a partir de 1875, el análisis abarca el final del siglo XIX y el comienzo del siglo XX, momento en que hubo mayor participación e importancia de esta forma de escolarización. Utilizando fuentes historiográficas diversificadas, pero privilegiando los informes consulares, el artículo analisa esta iniciativa singular de organización escolar, buscando contribuir con el conocimiento de la historia de la educacíón brasileña.

ÉDUCATION ET ETHNIE: LES ÉFÉMÈRES ÉCOLES ETHNIQUES- COMMUNAUTAIRES ITALIENNES SOUS LE REGARD DES CONSULS ET DES AGENTS CONSULAIRES
Résumé
L’objectif de cet article est de reconstruire brièvement l’histoire des écoles ethniques de la Région Coloniale Italienne du Rio Grande do Sul, à partir des regards registrés par des consuls et des agents consulaires. Considérant les contextes culturels, sociaux, politiques et économiques qui font partie de la trame historique des processus d’immigration, spécialement de celle des italiens, au Rio Grande do Sul à partir de 1875, l’analyse comprend la fin du XIXème siècle et le début du XXème siècle, moment où cette forme de scolarisation a été significative. En utilisant de sources historiographiques diverses, mais en privilégiant les rapports consulaires, on analyse cette initiative singulière d’organisation scolaire, en cherchant à contribuer à la connaissance de l’histoire de l’éducation brésilienne.
