Um estudo sobre a relevância do modelo fundacional no ensino superior brasileiro: o caso da fundação educacional de Bauru
Abstract
This article goal is to discuss the role of foundations in the expansion and interiorization of Brazilian higher education, bringing to light the results of a doctoral research project that proposes a historiographical study of the mathematics course at the Bauru Educational Foundation/Sao Paulo State University, under the methodological referential of Oral History. Here, we present a brief overview of the spread of the foundational model on Brazilian soil, highlighting the states of São Paulo and Santa Catarina, where higher education spread to the countryside, mainly through municipal educational foundations. Although they were treated as an exception by the current legislation at the time, educational foundations enjoyed a boom between the 1960s and 1980s, playing a fundamental role in the democratization of access to undergraduate courses, in a scenario where the supply of places at federal and state public institutions tended to be limited and restricted to the capital cities.
