Elementary and high schools water conservation indicators

The evaluation of the water conservation potential must consider other indicators besides the consumption indicator and take into account the characteristics of each building. This paper presents a methodology and the preliminary results of a study, which has as the main object of analysis public school buildings located in Campinas, São Paulo. It has been developed since August 2002 by a team of researchers from three universities from the State of São Paulo, UNICAMP, UFSCar e EPUSP, being led by the later. This project involves the collection of data related to pathologies in sanitary appliances and to water consumption remote monitoring in a sample of elementary schools for students of different age ranges and different periods of stay in school. The sampling criteria and the data collection procedures in the field studies, as well as the results that were obtained by September 2004 are presented.Downloads
