This paper presents the periodicals room and its usual activities and tries to understand contexts and processes involved in the building of information flows elaborated from such settings. Underlying this initial proposal, we intended to highlight the ethnotexts in a journalistic language anchored by ‘discourse formations’ and ‘discourses’, by Michel Foucault. In this process, the study aims at registering the theoretical basis on the role of periodicals rooms as a space for memory, preservation and access to knowledge, attempting to understand and evoke the way through which the information space was constituted in the past. Through the research, we were able to verify the importance of the collections of in periodicals rooms as a research source and of the latter as a place of memory.Downloads
