Becoming a mother before the planned time and experiencing your child's first days or even months in a hospital tends to have repercussions on issues related to increased tension, fear, anguish, difficulty in establishing a bond, in addition to a sudden rupture in other occupations and roles performed by her. Providing comprehensive care to the mother, even in a hospital environment, directly contributes to her well-being and the future care of the baby. This experience report aims to present the intervention carried out with seven mothers of premature babies hospitalized in the Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit of a University Hospital in the interior of São Paulo, in celebration of Children's Day. The intervention aimed to give new meaning to the commemorative date and the entire newborn hospitalization process. It is retracted in two different moments. The first presents the creation of superhero capes by the babies' mothers and the second reports on the photo session in which the newborns wore the capes created by their mothers. The experience provided the opportunity for mothers to participate in meaningful activities, to resume interfered occupations and performance standards, to build a support-socialization network and, above all, to assume a central role in the care of premature newborns. It showed potential to contribute not only to the mothers in this intervention, but to all those who experience motherhood with a premature newborn, in addition to qualifying the training process of undergraduate students in Occupational Therapy.
