Abstract

Introduction: One-Minute Preceptor (One-Minute Preceptor – OMP) is an active learning methodology with applicability in interacting with patients through five steps (microskills), represented by commitment to the case, search for concrete evidence, teaching general rules, emphasis on correct aspects and correction of potential errors. The preceptor acts as a facilitator and the student is the protagonist in the construction of their knowledge. Objective: To present the report of the original learning experience on the fundamentals of clinical research, developed during the theoretical-practical activities of hospital residency, through the OMP method. Experience report: The experience brings the perspective of uniprofessional preceptorship in Nursing. The preceptorship lasted one semester and its participants were resident professionals from the first year of Nursing at the Uniprofessional Residency in Cardiology and Hemodynamics (n=5), linked to a specialized hospital in Brasília, Federal District, Brazil, from March to November 2023. Each resident stayed in the clinical research sector for 21 to 22 days. Both theoretical and practical activities were developed. There were activities in the research laboratory, imaging unit, hospitalization and, especially, outpatient clinics. To evaluate practical experiences, the OMP method was used. The use of OMP in the practice of outpatient care, as well as in discussions about clinical research, facilitated the protagonism and clinical reasoning of resident professionals, enabling the resolution of problems during care and the adaptability of the resident to a new sector of activity. Conclusion: The experience of undergoing clinical research procedures, with preceptorship guided by the OMP method, allowed resident professionals to approach and build knowledge focused on clinical investigation of human beings, qualifying their training.
