Abstract

Different research methods, philosophical and theoretical currents that allow the researcher some flexibility in methodological choices make the rigor in research development go through a process of accreditation and reliability. Learning from this process is an important aspect in health education. In this perspective, this paper presents an experience report of the process of building a protocol that uses methodological rigor in qualitative research with the dental patient safety as the object of study. This is a systematic experience report. The report is presented in a narrative way, following the topics thought and structured to present the methodological rigor of a qualitative research. Thus, it is presented as follow: 1. Methodology; 2. Guiding References; 3. Data production; 4. Data analysis; 5. Results. As a final point it was also presented the report of the development of a pre-test before data collection. There are difficulties and challenges for an undergraduate health student to understand the rigor behind qualitative scientific research. Learning from the reality of research practice within the Unified Health System scenarios and conducting pre-tests are enriching
learning processes for future health professionals and researchers.
