A TRAJETÓRIA DE GASPAR SILVEIRA MARTINS: RELAÇÕES DE PODER ENTRE A REGIÃO FRONTEIRIÇA PLATINA E A EUROPA

Este artigo procura analisar a trajetória e atuação política de Gaspar Silveira Martins na região fronteiriça platina, no fim do século XIX, demonstrando que sua trajetória e pensamento/posicionamento político estão relacionados a uma base de origem fronteiriça e as relações sociais construídas em diferentes espaços, em que a própria Revolução Federalista é uma possibilidade de análise destas relações construídas. Na perspectiva da História Política, analisamos especialmente o seu período de atuação no contexto republicano da história do Brasil, quando o mesmo foi exilado para a Europa pelo governo e, ao retornar para a região fronteiriça platina, atuou junto ao Partido Federalista e na Revolução Federalista (1893-1895) pela implementação de seu projeto de governo parlamentarista.

ABSTRACT
This article analyzes the life path and political activities of Gaspar Silveira Martins in the Platine border region, in the late nineteenth century, showing that his life path and political thought/stance are related to a cross-border origin basis and to the social relations built in different spaces, where the federalist revolution itself is a possibility to analyze these built relationships. From the perspective of political history, we analyze especially his period of activity in the Republican context of the History of Brazil, when he was exiled to Europe by the government and, by returning to the Platine cross-border region, served as a member of the Federalist Party and took part in the Federalist Revolution (1893-1895) for the implementation of his parliamentary government project.
