PROPOSTA DE MODELO PARA ESTUDO DOS FLUXOS E DA HIERARQUIA ESPACIAL DAS CIDADES DA SERRA GAÚCHA

Partindo de uma tradição de estudos que buscam, desde meados do século XIX, estabelecer modelos matemáticos capazes de descrever o crescimento e desenvolvimento de cidades e regiões metropolitanas, este trabalho analisa a hierarquia espacial da Região Metropolitana da Serra Gaúcha. Essa região é a segunda concentração urbana em tamanho de população do Estado, além de desempenhar papel de destaque no desenvolvimento econômico e turístico de toda a região. Conceituado entre teorias locacionais clássicas da geografia e da economia e da nova ciência das cidades de Michael Batty, o estudo modela uma possibilidade de medição da movimentação entre as cidades usando de dados abertos e sistemas configuracionais. Neste contexto, o estudo da lógica espacial da região busca contribuir com o desenvolvimento e aperfeiçoamento da rede logística e de transportes da Serra e de todo o Estado, a partir do entendimento dos fluxos entre as cidades.

Abstract
Starting from a tradition of studies that seek, since the middle of the 19th century, to establish mathematical models capable of describing the growth and development of cities and metropolitan regions, this work analyzes the spatial hierarchy of the Metropolitan Region of Serra Gaúcha. This region is the second urban concentration in size of the state’s population, in addition to playing a prominent role in the economic and tourism development of the entire region. Conceptualized among classic locational theories of geography and economics and the new science of cities by Michael Batty, the study models a possibility of measuring movement between cities using open data and configurational systems. In this context, the study of the spatial logic of the region seeks to contribute to the development and improvement of the logistical and transport network of the Serra and of the entire State, based on the understanding of flows between cities.
