The The evolution of research trends in information management and knowledge management
Abstract
This study investigates the evolution of research trends in information management and knowledge management, analyzing their relevance to Business Administration in a business environment characterized by complexity and constant evolution. The research was conducted through the identification of keyword co-occurrences in academic articles indexed in the Web of Science, spanning four decades (1990-2020), allowing for an understanding of thematic relationships in scientific production over the decades. The results highlight the interconnection between information management, knowledge management, innovation, and information retrieval, revealing that effective management of these elements is fundamental to drive innovation and competitiveness in complex scenarios. Additionally, the research identifies changes in the most prominent keywords over time, indicating emerging focus areas such as "big data" and "artificial intelligence." This study also has implications for teaching and research in Business Administration, emphasizing the importance of integrating these concepts into curricula and conducting ongoing research to advance the field.
