Abstract

Business Intelligence (BI) can be understood as part of the organizations’ management model. The alignment of IT technology with the business plan (BP) could contribute with that activity. The organizations need convenient information and personalized knowledge, as well as coherent and integrated plans to help their management with IE. This study was aimed at proposing an alignment model for the Strategic Planning of IT (SPIT) to the BP of Brazil’s large companies, according to the CEOs’ and CIOs’ point of view. Its variables involve four supporting resources: IT, knowledge and information systems, people and organizational context.   A survey was elaborated in seventy eight organizations, aiming at contributing with the organizations’ BI.   The conclusion reinforces the importance of this alignment and indicates that if the supporting resources are adequately and competently dealt with in groups, they could contribute with the business management of competitive and intelligent companies.
