INTERNATIONAL MANAGEMENT: BRAZILIAN SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION FROM 1997 TO 2006

Abstract

The aim of this study is to map the scientific production in the area of International Management in Brazil. The research base was articles published in Brazilian academic periodicals rated as A national by QUALIS/CAPES during the periods from 1997-2001, 2002-2006 and 1997-2006. It was identified 143 articles considered as International Management area. Following methodologies developed in similar national and international articles the material was categorized by periodicals, theme subjects, authors and their institutional liaisons. The institutions ranked by the number of published articles were USP, FGV-SP e UFRGS. Among the periodicals the ones which most published International Management articles were REAd, RAE, RAC and RAUSP. The subjects most found in the articles were Country Studies, Industry Studies, Management and Organizations, with little significant changes in the 10 years. From this study we could observe a rise in the number of publications (27%) about International Management in the periods from 1997-2001 to 2002-2006. The results of EnANPADs had been made separately. A growth of 93% in the publication of IM was verified from 1997-2006. The subject that appears as results of EnANPADs is Marketing and FGV-Rio and UFMG had gone up 3 positions.
