This descriptive research aimed, by using answers obtained from 368 Brazilian users, to identify the main products consumed as well as the behavioral variables that are determinant in decision-making regarding virtual retail shopping. For convenience, non-probalistic methodology was used, whose data was collected by means of a questionnaire designed in HTML and hosted at the site www.pesquisams.hpg.com.br, from 8 to 28 October, 2001. Results demonstrated that scientific books and articles, followed by CDs and informatics goods, were the most searched-for products. Convenience was pointed as the main variable influencing virtual shopping; preference for the real shop represented the main giving-up variable, and the choice of not buying without seeing and feeling the product was the most important influence factor for those who do not use this resource for shopping.
