Abstract

The objective of this paper is to present a simulation model utilizing the systems dynamics methodology in order to determine the dimension of deposits of urban solid residues and taking into account population growth rates, amount of residues generated per inhabitant and the available area for depositation of the residues. After the model was validated, case studies were developed in two country cities ofRio Grande do Sul. To the modeling of the system the Vensim software of Ventana Systems was utilized.
