A NOVA VERSÃO DA NORMA ISO 14.001: AS INFLUÊNCIAS PRESENTES NO PRIMEIRO CICLO REVISIONAL E AS MUDANÇAS EFETUADAS

All ISO standards are subjected to a process of review on three years cycle that can occur it withdraw, the maintenance of the same text or its revision. In 1999, three years after the approval of the ISO 14.001, has started it evaluation highlighted for many controversies and antagonisms. Firstly this paper discusses same reasons that aimed the success of the management international system standards, just as the growing up of a planetary social and environmental awareness and the relevant changes in the field of the international trade. Then, the paper discusses demands and influences presented on the revision cycle of this standard, pointed out prior text of this standard and shows the most important changes introduced in the new version approved in October 2004. The new text of the ISO 14.001 brings many innovations compared with the text revised. From this date, all organizations that intend to implant an Environmental Management System must to use the new version of the ISO 14.001, and the ones which has a system in conformity with the text revised will have a transition period to migrate to the new standard for certification purpose. Above all to present the main changes on the standard revised, with this article expected to enlarge the debate about this ISO standard thinking forward the next revision cycle that will start in 2007.Downloads
