Abstract

In this article we aim to present a basic stage of a bigger inquiry process – on reflexivity and entrepreneurial articulation – which involved several techniques, among them, aspect of central interest here: field notes originary from a free observation and its dense description. In this study, this type of observation is characterized as being the register of facts without the necessary accomplishment of direct questions or use of special techniques. The necessity (reason) to explore the field, parallel and during the “data collection” was what stimulated us to spend an observation period in the daily life of the “illustrative case” of the study in question. What did we aim with this? Consolidate and focus aspects which we assumed be our main interest through the free observation and dense description – this supported on the anthropologist Clifford Geertz classic text, A dense description – as pertinent aspects to the research in administration, more specifically, on the entrepreneurial action. Here we present some of our observations, interpretations, reflections, and as a result, questions of interest are now consolidated. In this way, these are the result of a process of “polishing” the research focus, fieldwork, wherever needed.
