TEMPO, RESISTÊNCIA E CONSENTIMENTO NA REESTRUTURAÇÃO PRODUTIVA DO TRABALHO BANCÁRIO

Abstract

This article is a case study which took place in a public Brazilian bank, whose workers that shared the same working experience face a new corporate order imposed by the productive restructuring (PR). The data of this research were collected by assystematic observation and twelve interviews with six workers, in two different moments: the most intensive period of the productive restructuring – 1998, and six years later – 2004. Other data come from documents of the bank and from institutions like DIEESE and FEBRABAN (Federation of Brazilian Banks). The content analysis was done sequentially through pre-analysis, exploration and interpretation of data, in order to examine the influence of the course of time in the workers’  perception of the PR, and to identify how workers consent and resist to the PR. The results of this research shows that the course of time affects and reconstructs the perception that workers have about events that took place in the productive restructuring. The course of time affects how workers remember or forget the PR events, resulting in generalization, despersonalization, homonenization, suavization and distortion of events. Thus, the course of time reconfigures how workers consent and resist to the new corporate order imposed by the productive restructuring.
