STRATEGIC INTELLIGENCE IN DECISION SUPPORT OF A COMPANY OF IT

Abstract

This paper shows the development of applications to organize and facilitate data collection, management and exploration aiming at the operationalization of Environmental Scanning (IE) concepts to support the strategic decision making process in a medical software company. Environmental Scanning consists in collecting and using valid information relative to the company’s socio-economic environment to create business opportunities and avoid potential problems. Its objetive is to allow quick response at the right moment and at the lowest cost. Applications were developped to systematize the treatment of data, both internal and external, of a company in the medical software field. A bigger involvement of the employees is still needed to make the use of these applications evolve and prove their added value.
