Abstract

This paper has as its purpose to analyze the influence factors related to the technological occurrence in Capital Goods sector from São Paulo state industry, using a quantitative approach in a research with descriptive and correlational characteristics, where were used data from  Pesquisa de Atividade Econômica Paulista (PAEP) provided by Fundação Sistema de Análise de Dados (SEADE). The statistical method used was the logistic regression with marginal effects analysis, which shows how an incremental variation in the dependent variables affects the occurrence probability of product or process technological innovation. The results show that when it comes to product and process technological  innovation the relevant factors of influence are: export orientation, the average salary, the availability of a R&D specific department or laboratory and the information sources for innovative activities. The enterprise age and the origin of the bigger part of the enterprise incomings (goods or services) have influence just in product technological innovation, while the fact of the enterprise belongs to a entrepreneurial group, the percent of human resources invested in R&D and the governmental support have influence only in the process technological innovation occurrence.
