Abstract

The objective of this multicase study was to evaluate the relations between competitiveness, strategy and technological innovation. Another proposal was to identify the process of insertion of the technological variable in the strategic formulation of four organizations representing sectors like cellulose, siderurgy, pharmaceuticals and nuclear energy. Three different levels were verified in the insertion of the technological variable in the strategic management of the organizations studied: strategic analysis, strategic decisions and strategic implementation. The main technology sources usually employed by these organizations were also identified. Finally, it is suggested that the five forces microeconomic model of Porter can receive contributions in the sense of incorporating cooperative strategies present in the industrial structure by creating cooperativity indicators.
