In the 21st century, economic growth and democratic consolidation promoted the international projection of Nigeria as a regional leader. In this context, this article explores the identity elements of Nigerian foreign policy, focusing on Afrocentrism and its impact on the country's identity as a regional power. For this, from a descriptive-analytical methodology, the role that Afrocentrism has had in foreign policy designs since independence is described, the main lines of action in matters of cooperation and regional integration are exposed and the potentialities and constraints facing the Nigerian leadership in West Africa are presented.Downloads
