THE MUSIC TCHAU BY GABY AMARANTO AS A CONTEMPORARY PERSPECTIVE OF THE BLACK WOMAN IN BRAZIL

Abstract

Where is the role of black women in Brazilian culture today? This text presents an essayistic approach, highlighting the music in the video clip Tchau (2021, 3’07”, directed by João Monteiro) by Gaby Amarantos – and special participation by Jaloo. What exemplifies this critical-reflexive debate on dissidence and (mis)encounters, which emanate from the contemporary. The latter makes use of contemporary studies, by stratifying paradoxes and contradictions in the field of culture to approach the production of knowledge, subjectivity and information with recurrences of updating and innovation. Of course, the methodological course brings the essay format to observe, describe and discuss some peculiar aspects visually exposed by circumstantial elements in the reading of the researched work. From the categories creativity, flexibility and versatility, it is important to promote cultural diversity, especially gender and ethnicity-race.
