Abstract

Indigenous works authored by women in Bahia still need to be further studied by literary critics. In light of this, in order to contribute to this urgent task, the aim of this paper is to analyze some letters from the book Tecendo histórias do meu lugar (2022), by Ane Kethleen Pataxó, illustrated by Zig Pataxó. The book brings together various textual forms, such as letters, biographies, narratives, and songs from oral tradition. This study seeks to investigate two letters written by the young author, addressed to her great-grandmother Luciana Zabelê (an elder who fought for the defense of the territory and the right to intercultural schooling within the community) and to her mother Márcia Neves (who inspired Ane to pursue higher education). The analytical-critical dimension of the study follows a methodological approach grounded in bibliographic research, primarily relying on indigenous intellectual production (Graça Graúna, 2013; Adriana Pesca, 2020; Eliane Potiguara, 2018; among others). Thus, this paper reveals that the work of the Pataxó author brings together several generations of women and textualities to strengthen the affection among them and the collective voice, contributing to the resistance of indigenous communities in Bahia.
