ANOTHER LITERATURE FROM PRE-BRAZIL BASED ON THE WORK O KARAÍBA

Abstract

This research aims to present another reading of the history of Brazil based on the work O Karaíba by Daniel Munduruku (2018). Based on a bibliographical survey and using the assumptions of Comparative Literature, we sought to present another perspective on the history of Brazil, based on the indigenous voices evidenced in a historiographical metafictional narrative. This process highlights indigenous traditions and worldviews, enabling new reflections on the Brazilian situation before the European invasion, contributing to the deconstruction of stereotypical narratives about indigenous peoples. In this way, this study enables the development of critical and reflective thoughts on confronting colonialist ideals. We conclude that Brazilian indigenous literature highlights the protagonism of the original peoples, deconstructing the unilateral version of history propagated by Europeans, and revealing a new point of view about the history of Brazil. We intend to engage in dialogue with the history of Brazil and build a solid theoretical base based on contemporary criticism, using names such as Airton Krenak, Suene Honorato, Márcia Wayna Kambeba, among other authors who contribute to this debate.
