Considering the historical course of construction of modern science, as well as the configurations of knowledge and powers that were established along this path, we analyze the possibilities of welcoming women in mathematics. We observe that compliance with the criteria of scientificity presupposes the emptying of the subject and the strengthening of rationality, which configures today the model of “contributions to science and technology”. Such a model is based on parameters of essentiality, neutrality and universality, and is established and spread across disciplinary divisions. Following the approach to science in the feminine proposed by Isabelle Stengers, we argue in favor of rethinking mathematics as local, situated, embodied knowledge.
