From the utopian to the heterotopian school: education and postmodernity

Abstract

This study is an attempt to deconstruct the utopia of the school as the privileged
and almost exc\usive place ofthe educational opportunities. It points to the phenomenon ofthe dilution ofthe "solid" represented by the school and looks at other plural places, at heterotopias, where educational wisdom emerge in postmodern times. The main concept is that of heterotopia, in opposition to that of utopia as a fixed place of the traditional school. Special effort is devoted to show the interconnections of these multiple places with a unique phenomenon: that of education as a processo.
