Abstract

The present article focuses on school as a space-time for teacher education. Initially, it conducts a theoretical reflection, then discusses the policies oriented for teacher education time in schools’ daily activities, and presents the narratives of teachers working at full-time schools in three municipalities in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The theoretical-methodological approach is comprehended in the field of (self-) biographic narrative research taken as a path of investigation-formation1. The conclusion of the study indicates that we have advanced in guaranteeing teacher education as an integral part of teaching, and the narratives signal the challenges that still emerge to the implementation of these policies.

Inês Ferreira de Souza Bragança holds a post-doctorate degree from the Education Post-Graduation Program of Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUC/RS) and a PhD in Sciences of Education from Universidade de Évora-Portugal. Holds a master’s degree in Education, is a Specialist and Pedagogue by Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). Adjunct-Professor of UERJ Teachers’ Formation School. Teacher and Adjunct-Coordinator of the master’s degree in Education: formative processes and social inequalities. Member of the Regional Board of the Brazilian (Auto) Biographic Research Association (2014-2016), researcher of the Voices of Education Nucleus of Research and Outreaching (UERJ) and a collaborating researcher of the Investigation Center on Education and Psychology (CIEP) of Universidade de Évora-Portugal.
