Teachers’ variable payment: control, guilt and subjectivation.

Each day it becomes more difficult to distinguish between public and private administration. Capitalist values are naturalized to all spheres of human life. Models and policies of the management of companies focused on profit have been progressively more imported to Brazilian public administration, mainly after 1995, with the management reform of the State. Several municipalities and states already use variable payment systems based on performance to manage teachers. To what extent variable payment by performance, applied to teachers, may build new subjectivities, functioning as an instrument of control and guilt of these teachers? This is the question that guides this paper.Downloads
