Abstract

In the context of the Brazilian National Plan of Human Right approval, which prescribes the creation of a truth commission to investigate human rights violations during the military dictatorship from 1964 to 1985, this paper intends to present a broad scenery of the truth commissions characteristics, focusing on the Latin American experiences.

Graduada em Direito pela UFJF, mestre em relações internacionais pela PUC/Rio e doutora em Ciência Política pelo IUPERJ/UCAM. É professora do Centro de Pesquisa e Pós-Graduação sobre as Américas da Universidade de Brasilia.
