A emergência da noção de cultura material escolar na historiografia da educação recentemente, ao mesmo tempo em descortina horizontes para novas questões e interpretações, impõe desafios que se ligam à própria construção conceitual e sua apropriação. Neste texto, partimos de uma situação vivenciada em pesquisa para discutir as dimensões imateriais que se relacionam à memória e à construção de identidades, percebidas como aspectos que podem e devem ser incorporados pelo historiador no tratamento e problematização das fontes quando pensadas como parte do acervo da cultura material escolar brasileira.

EDUCATION, MEMORY AND IDENTITY: IMMATERIAL ASPECTS OF SCHOOL MATERIAL CULTURE
Abstract
The recent onset of school material culture in the education historiography offers challenges connected to the conceptual construction and appropriation of the term itself and, at the same time, asks new questions and proposes new interpretations. Within this context and from a new situation in research, immaterial dimensions related to memory and identity construction are discussed and perceived as aspects that may and shall be incorporated by historians when dealing with the problem of sources as part of the material culture of Brazilian schools.

Resumen
La noción de cultura material escolar en la historiografía de la educación es reciente. Al mismo tiempo en que se abren horizontes para las nuevas cuestiones e interpretaciones, se plantean retos relacionados a su propia construcción conceptual y apropiación. En este trabajo partimos de una situación vivida en la investigación para analizar las dimensiones inmateriales relacionadas a la memoria y a la construcción de identidades, entendidas como aspectos que pueden y deben ser incorporados por el historiador en el tratamiento y problematización de las fuentes que se consideran como parte de la cultura material escolar brasileña.

Résumé
La notion de culture matérielle scolaire dans l'historiographie de l'éducation est récente. Elle ouvre des horizons pour de nouvelles questions et interprétations en même temps qu’elle pose des défis qui se lient à sa propre construction conceptuelle et appropriation. Dans cet article nous partons d'une situation vécue dans la recherche afin de discuter des dimensions immatérielles qui se rapportent à la mémoire et à la construction des identités, vues comme des aspects qui peuvent et doivent être incorporées par l'historien dans le traitement et l'interrogation des sources considérées comme faisant partie de notre acquis de la culture matérielle scolaire brésilienne.
