The main objective of this research is to make a two-way approach between intersectionality and International Relations (IR), based on two transnational social movements and mobilizations: Ni Una Menos and Black Lives Matter. Starting from feminist studies in IR, we conceptualize intersectionality as an analytical tool and critical social theory. It is a methodologically qualitative and exploratory research, using technical bibliographic procedures. As a result, these movements make visible the transnational character of gender and racial discrimination and violence, which are co-produced in a scenario marked by colonialist legacies and geopolitical inequalities. Therefore, being intersectional approaches, as they are formed from a theory and critical praxis of social movements (COLLINS; BILGE, 2016), they analyze reality from an intersectional lens of inequalities (CRENSHAW, 1990; 2002), and approach power relations, understanding it as multidimensional and complex (COLLINS, 2019). In addition, we indicate how IR lenses can contribute to overcoming the frequent restrictions of intersectional research limited to borders constructed from western-colonial logics of the nation-state (PATIL, 2013). Thus, it can help to understand the cross-border aspects of the dynamics of power co-production of elements such as racism, colonialism, sexism, and nationalism.
