Abstract

Deploying a Postcolonial perspective, the paper explores the tension between the French universalistic aspiration and the particularistic character of the veiling tradition of Muslin women in France in the debates concerning French laws on the issue. It intends to demonstrate how the denial of difference present in the modern international affects Muslim women in the country.
