Abstract

This article introduces an historical account of Brazilian emigrations and disserts on the institutional evolution of the Foreign Office to deal with emigrated communities. It also discusses how Brazilian researchers analyze Brazilian emigrations and mentions a sample of foreign works on the relations between States and its emigrated populations.
