A reflectivist view of otherness in the framework of International Relations.

The research will attempt to analyze the functioning of the international system as a consequence of the various constructions of the other, which can be made from otherness or from opposition, resulting in relations of conflict or cooperation, as the case may be. A review of the reflectivist approaches (constructivism, feminism, postmodernism) will be made in an attempt to understand the construction of the other in international relations, both from theory and practice, analyzing the use of dichotomous categories such as East/West, North/South, civilized/uncivilized, developed/underdeveloped, among others. In this way, it will be possible to analyze the role played by identities and perceptions of the world with respect to the construction of the other and how, from otherness, recognition and respect for difference can be achieved in a multicultural world, making reference to representative cases. Methodologically, it will be used the historical method and documentary analysis of direct or indirect sources.
