Military diplomacy is one of the instruments for implementing national agendas in conflict scenarios. The participation of a country in a peace
operation is linked to its national interests, direct or indirect, and can impact their effectiveness. This is qualitative research, supported by the UNMISS
case study, using the technique of unstructured observation made by one of the authors in 2015/2016 and document analysis. It studies how military
diplomacy serves as a tool in the relationship between national agendas and Peace Operations under the aegis of the UN. Specifically, we question how
the national interest of countries contributing to peace missions influence their effectiveness. In the end, as conclusions, it presents ways to reduce
and/or mitigate these effects in the UN system, rethinking this activity to improve multilateralism, understanding the role of transnational alliances in
mitigating these various national agendas within the scope of the mission.
