Abstract

In a dynamic market, the first objective of an insurance company is to survive in a highly competitive commercial environment, competing for space with several other competitive companies that offer similar products. Next, the objective would be to maximize the profits and minimize the damages. However, being a company whose role is to administrate and manage risks, an insurance company should be permanently alert aiming at minimizing the risks. To reach this goal it is necessary to adopt, not only appropriate subscription policies, but also establish premium rate of risks, saving provisions in technically recommended levels, reevaluating portfolios, regulating the claims and using the reinsurance mechanism in order to transfer risks.
