SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: SHOWING EVIDENCE OF PRACTICES ADOPTED BY SANITARY METAL INDUSTRIES IN NORTHWESTERN PARANÁ

Abstract

This article is a study on the descriptive and field research method whose objective is to investigate how and where to find information regarding Social Responsibility in sanitary metal industries in the northwestern area of the State of Paraná. The survey applied semi-structured interviews among managers of those organizations, and an analysis of the 2004 and 2005 accounting reports. The study included a review of the main concepts related to Social Responsibility and Social Balance, and how they may or may not have a positive impact on organizations. The results indicate that, although managers are aware of the Social Responsibility in their organizations, the annual accounting reports show no evidence of any actions in that regard. In an effort to find the solution for this problem, it was proposed the application of the IBASE Social Balance Model in small business enterprises, as a starting point for Social Responsibility actions, and as a suggestion that new information be later added to the report.
