Abstract

This paper aims to analyze how the relations with Argentina were treated in the brazilian foreign policy, of governments FHC and Lula da Silva, from the respectives strategies of international insertion. It concludes that the differences of the strategies were accompanied by differences in Argentina’s importance in brazilian foreign policy. However, in both cases, the neighboring country was not one of the priorities, occupying an instrumental place in relation to the main interests of each government.
