OS USOS POLÍTICOS DO PASSADO: O PAPEL DAS COMISSÕES EXECUTIVAS NA ORGANIZAÇÃO DO BIÊNIO DA COLONIZAÇÃO E IMIGRAÇÃO DO RIO GRANDE DO SUL

Neste artigo temos como objeto de investigação as comemorações do Biênio da Colonização e Imigração, promovidas pelo governo estadual do Rio Grande do Sul em 1974 e 1975. Essas comemorações moveram diversas cidades do estado e diferentes instâncias do poder público, e tiveram como objetivo oficial – de acordo com o Decreto de instalação das comemorações – rememorar a história da imigração por meio de discursos de homenagem e agradecimento aos diferentes grupos imigrantes (alemães, italianos, luso-brasileiros, argentinos, espanhóis, norte-americanos, franceses, ingleses, israelenses, japoneses, libaneses, poloneses e uruguaios), negros e índios. Analisaremos o processo de construção das comemorações do Biênio da Colonização e Imigração pelas autoridades governamentais, a criação de Comissões e Subcomissões organizadoras e suas funções. Problematizaremos as seleções e disputas de memórias empreendidas neste momento comemorativo e como estas memórias se fizeram presentes nos discursos oficiais, entendendo que neste contexto, elas explicitam os usos políticos do passado da imigração.

ABSTRACT
The present work has as its research object the celebrations of the Biennium of Colonization and Immigration, promoted by the state government of Rio Grande do Sul in 1974 and 1975. These celebrations moved several state cities and different levels of government, and had as official goal - according to the Decree of installation of the celebrations - to recall the history of immigration through speeches of homage and gratitude to the various immigrant groups (Germans, Italians, Portuguese, Argentines, Spaniards, Americans, French, British, Israeli, Japanese, Lebanese, Polish, and Uruguayans), Blacks, and Indians. We will analyze the process of construction of the Celebrations of the Biennium of Colonization and Immigration by government authorities, the creation of organizing committees and subcommittees and their functions. We will problematize the selections and disputes of memories carried out in this celebrative moment and how these memories were present in the official discourse, understanding that in this context they make explicit the political uses of the past of immigration.
