A DIFUSÃO DA SOJA EM SOLEDADE/RS ENTRE 1960 A 1985

Abstract

RESUMO
O artigo reflete e interpreta o processo de expansão da soja no município de Soledade/RS, entre os anos de 1960 a 1985, partindo de uma problematização que buscou evidenciar os impactos socioambientais que essa cultura promoveu. O presente estudo baseou-se na interpretação de jornais e também dos censos agropecuários de 1960 a 1985 do IBGE. Na pesquisa em foco, verificou-se que a expansão das lavouras da soja no território em estudo, aconteceu posteriormente em relação a outros locais da região Noroeste do estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Sua difusão esteve relacionada a ação do Estado brasileiro, ao atrativo preço no mercado internacional e a modernização da agricultura. Teve na cooperativa o principal centro dinamizador, outrossim, constatamos problemas socioambientais associados a essa lavoura.

ABSTRACT
The article reflects and interprets the soy expansion process in the municipality of Soledade/RS, between 1960 and 1985, starting from a problematization that sought to highlight the socio-environmental impacts that this culture promoted. The present study was based on the interpretation of newspapers and also of the IBGE agricultural censuses from 1960 to 1985. In the research in focus, it was found that the expansion of soy crops in the territory under study happened later in relation to other places in the Northwest region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Its diffusion was related to the action of the Brazilian Government, to the attractive price on the international market and the modernization of agriculture. The cooperatives were the main driving force, in addition, we found socio-environmental problems associated with this crop.
