About the Journal
The Brazilian Journal of African Studies (BJAS) is a biannual, bilingual - Portuguese and English - digital publication of the Brazilian Center for African Studies (CEBRAFRICA). With a Qualis Capes A4 rating, the BJAS publishes original scientific articles focusing on analyses of International Relations, Integration Organizations, Security and Defense, Political Systems, History, Geography, Economic Development, Social Structures, and Currents of Thought. The BJAS is a strictly academic publication of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, without any governmental or foreign foundation affiliations.
BJAS' target audience includes researchers, teachers, and students interested in the specificities of the African continent and its international relations. The journal also aims to broaden the debate on Brazil's projection and its cooperation efforts (including in Defense) with African countries bordering the South Atlantic, and the construction of a regional identity in the face of geopolitical transformations.
Thus, we look forward to contributions from colleagues in Brazil and abroad, scholars of Contemporary Africa, and the South-South axis of the current World System. We aim to establish links to deepen knowledge and build a Southern perspective on the African continent and its International Relations.
