This article proposes a comparative study of the narrative Donana e Titonho (2018), by author Ninfa Parreiras, and the photographs Marat (Sebastião), Pictures of Garbage and The Beare Irma, constructed with recyclable objects, by artist Vik Muniz (2008) . The objective is to encourage a discussion about the interactions between verbal and visual languages. The representations are verbal-visual, given the narrative strength of the images created from the simultaneous use of multimodal text. In these works, we address the complexity of language and issues such as social differences in their various forms. This research is bibliographic and qualitative, agreeing with the perspectives of authors such as Dionisio (2008; 2011; 2013), Rojo (2009; 2012; 2015) and Navas (2017).
