The meanings evoked by the term "World" [Mundo] have undergone a continuous displacement in the Western poetic-philosophical tradition. By focusing on the notion of "World" as exposed in the episodes of the "opening” of the “World Machine” we will see how this notion evolved in contradiction to Ptolemaic astronomy, its previous model. With the advancement of scientific knowledge and new philosophical considerations, led by Giordano Bruno, the conception of "World" abandoned its previous human centrality, approaching the concept of Universe. There are two movements of displacement focused on in this work: the decentering of the human and the opening to the infinite.
