Filiation au féminin: La construction du sujet dans Moments of Being de Virginia Woolf

Resumo

Cet article propose de sonder le sentiment complexe de Virginia Woolf éprouvé à l’endroit de sa mère tel que le dévoilent les essais autobiographiques composant le recueil Moments of Being. Entre idéalisation et rejet, le sujet de ces textes semble adopter une posture contradictoire à l’égard du modèle féminin que représente Julia Stephen. Les mémoires révèlent de fait la prise de conscience woolfienne quant aux conditions matérielles d’oppression des femmes de la famille Stephen ainsi que l’affranchissement des conditions discursives de telles oppressions.
