Abstract

This article analyzes the impact of neoliberalism on football culture, addressing the transformation of stadiums into standardized arenas and the conversion of fans into individualized customers. Contextualized by the critique of corporate football, the text problematizes how market logic, the search for control (VAR, biometrics) and commodification (SAFs, betting) threaten the collective identity, unpredictability and popular character of the sport. The aim is to question the possibility of resistance and the maintenance of the culture of collectivity in the face of neoliberal grammar. The methodology involves cultural and theoretical analysis and observation of contemporary phenomena. It is concluded that, despite neoliberal homogenization, practices such as amateur football and cultural resistance represent lines of escape and the persistence of football as a space of enchantment and community expression.
