Abstract

“The Death of the Coal” was an urban artistic intervention carried out by a web of people against the “Mina Guaíba” project in Porto Alegre — RS. Due to a seminar about the project on May 14, 2019, at the Hotel Plaza São Rafael on Alberto Bins Avenue, an aesthetic intervention was made inspired by the alliances signed at COP 23 for the global elimination of the use of the coal energy matrix until 2030. Besides exposing information about the project, the essay explores, textual and visually, the daily tactics of the interveners in order to be seen in contexts of possible repression of public demonstrations against large enterprises.
