Abstract

Autoethnographic research using images produced between 2019 and 2020 by the artist, motivated by significant events such as the death of her mother, her children leaving home, menopause and retirement. The research resulted in a deep reflection on her life as an aging woman, addressing memory, behaviors, social standards and ethical issues. The need for deconstruction and reconstruction of a "new" life is highlighted, including the transformation of spaces and objects to reflect this transition. The perceptions resulting from this experience are expressed in images that represent the artist's story and explore themes such as time, memory, affection, resilience, exhaustion, control, loneliness, pleasure and frustration. The images resulting from this research seek to provoke reflections on the ethical problem of female aging, including the contradiction in the appreciation of senescence and the crisis of current social standards, aiming to present new possibilities and sensibilities that challenge the predominant oppressive model.
