Abstract

This essay is based on ongoing research within the scope of the Postgraduate Program in Visual Arts at the University of Brasília, which investigates aesthetics and visualities in protests and marches organized by women. Three feminist manifestations of March 8th in Brasília (2020, 2023) and Santiago, Chile (2022) are compared. Drawing upon the concept of montage developed by Aby Warburg (2015), this collection of photographs made various arrangements, creating connections between the images in order to trace itineraries that could initiate a narrative about the visualities of women in protests. In this essay, we specifically address the visual repertoire that uses textile techniques in flags, banners, and embroidery, among other visual expressions.
