Abstract

This article examines the notion of the mirror stage and the resonances in its relationship with the Other, highlighting the consequences on the formations of the Self illustrated in a clinical case. The discussion is sustained through the notion of the imaginary self (moi) and symbolic self (Je), discussing the impasses in the construction of the unconscious subject. For this endeavor, the study articulates the theoretical dimension based on the notions of the mirror stage and the Other in Lacan's teaching, highlighting the appearances in the clinical case of Edu, a 13-year-old boy. The result provides two basic points: first, the understanding of the constitution of the mirror stage in its impact on the formation of the subject, and the other, it implies the depathologization of the attempts and trials of creating the space of the self, necessary to cross this phase.
